The last week of March we spent at this state park in southeastern LA, right on Lake Ponchatrain.
Here's our pretty campsite, surrounded by green and...
puddles! Lots of rain had swamped this place too!
Cute little Airstream parked under the oaks.
Incredible oaks and moss.
It's raining again, but this painter is unhindered!
A beautiful little swamp right near the big lake.
Lake Ponchartrain.
Pretty buildings for picnics, parties, etc.
Bill and Hayes walk out the pier.
A boy and his dog.
Heading back...
Doggone Alley (OK, sort of like Harry Potter's Diagon Alley?!!)
Spunky Brewsters!
I can't get enough of these trees!!
Ruins from an old sugar mill.
The park's pretty entrance
The southeast is known for its azalea blooms, but for the most part, we managed to be in the wrong places at the wrong times! Here, I found one nice little bit though!
Nice bathhouse/laundry facilities.
Just in case someone wanted to see the laundry room! (Hey! You never know - I appreciate knowing about these things!)
And perhaps even more importantly...the bath and shower rooms! Pretty nice, eh?
One of the neat things about this park, and many in these areas, are these rental cabins! Aren't they cool? Out of over the water...
The AC was running inside, and they looked ready to use, but I didn't see anyone around, and the road to them was blocked (although, as usual, that didn't stop me, yeah? I was just on foot though). Looked like a great spot to me!! A hammock on the deck, a tequila sunrise and sunset,...
Real nice state park.
ReplyDeleteHey, get those rubber boots on and go jump in the puddles!
