Foley, AL

On Easter (April 5th), we moved to Foley, a whole 2-hr drive (our favorite!  short!).  Here, we drive past what must be a sod farm.  I love how it almost glows green!
So this is how Hayes felt about Foley.
Just kidding!  Well, partly.  Hayes just likes to sleep with his head under the passenger seat skirting!?  But it WAS awful hot and muggy while we were there, so we really only went out in the mornings and evenings or in the car!  So it might not have been a doggy fav...
It kinda was how Bill and I felt about Foley though.  Well, technically, not Foley so much as the Gulf Shores - an area much-touted by many as being a paradise.  From what I saw it would indeed have been a paradise - with beautiful beaches and lush vegetation.  If it weren't for the tons of people and their shopping and circus amusements built up everywhere...
But when you've got so many furry friends, life INSIDE the (air-conditioned!) RV is always good!!
And it is ALWAYS playtime!! (yes, this IS play!  And Tractor is often the instigator!)
And speaking of play...this RV park (Bella Terra - very nice but a bit pricey, and a little boring/manicured for what we had gotten accustomed to) had THREE (or was it four??) giant dog parks!!!!  There weren't any other dogs for our guys to play with, but that was probably a good thing, given how super crazy Hayes was back then (and I'm not sure how much has changed eight months later...).  It was in one of those dog parks that Hayes smashed into Zou, who was standing next to me.  She went down right on my toe.  Given the immediate and attention-grabbing pain I felt, I don't see how she came away unscathed!!!  Maybe she didn't, but there weren't any obvious owies on her.  Unlike my toe, which was clearly a casualty.  It turned purple and didn't quit hurting for a week or so, and stayed fairly numb for several months after that.  Had I known about the "drill a hole through the nail" treatment to drain off the blood right away, I would've gone that route.  But I didn't, so just tried to protect the toe.  Since the nail seemed to want to hang on, I let it and ended up just doing what I could to keep it on till the new one would be mostly grown in.  Using bandaids, socks, and closed-toe shoes, I was able to keep the toenail on over the summer and so was able to go on all my hikes.  When we got back home to San Diego, my toenail and I decided to finally part ways.  And fortunately, after those eight months, my new nail was about 60-70% in.  So, looks like it'll all end well, but I could've done without that extra drama.  Thanks Hayes!!
 Playing, despite the hot heat.

Zou is a good ball-catcher, so I tried it with Hayes too...
 Ha-ha!!!!!!
 Yeah, well...
So here's a look at Bella Terra on a lovely cloud day.
Our space, which was happily right next to one of the dog parks (located in each corner of the park - or at least 3 of the 4 corners?).
Pretty pool and clubhouse.
One of the beaches at Gulf Shores.

Very pretty beach, but too hard to assimilate after being in equally (or, actually, more!) beautiful but less populated and more wild environs...!!
