There was a nature trail that kind of went around the outside of the campground. When we were first there, the ground was way too wet to walk any of it, but it dried with time and the sunny days (except for one section that remained an impassable swamp as far as I was concerned!), so we were able to do most of it eventually.
And what the heck is this? I know this girl takes photos of turds and stuff. Is this a poop pile? Nope! It's a crawfish tower! The little guys dig these tunnels in the mud, scooping mudballs and pushing them out behind them, creating little volcanic structures at the opening.
The swampy section otherwise known as the end of the trail...!
Baby tree leaves coming out.
And look what I spied! I heard it before I was able to locate it in all the ground litter and plants. A cute opossum!
I only had my point and shoot with me (darn it!), but I was impressed at the relatively decent job it did focusing on the right thing and staying fairly sharp on a long zoom.
One of the bridges over the wetter spots (running creeklets). They just needed one more bridge however...
Pretty little flowers along the road.
Crawfish Tower...Yeah right...It's a turd! LOL!
