This RV park hosts a big fly fishing fun fair thing ("Trout Fest") every year. We were impressed with how many people came for the weekend event - enough to fill a pretty good sized impromptu grass parking lot.
We were also surprised that, with that many fishermen, hardly anyone was fishing! Apparently it's more about swapping fish stories, casting competitions, and shopping flies.
Time's fun when you're having flies!
Texas Parks and Wildlife had a little tank full of rainbow trout. I guess normally trout really aren't found in the Texas rivers naturally (Bill did a lot of fishing as a kid growing up in TX and doesn't remember any trout!), but this river is actually cold enough to sort of sustain them (for part of the year?) so they stock it with trout and keep the anglers happy.
A tank full of wee fishies for the up and coming...
One of the really cool things we had heard about before but found here was outfits that help our disabled soldiers to find peace. Check out this org: http://projecthealingwaters.org/ Seems like a great cause to me!
Saturday night was party time! A couple of the folks had cool light thingees illuminating the trees outside their RVs!
