On Feb. 24th, friends Susan and Joe took us for one more great outing! To:
Wimberley, TX.
We finally found a Texas town Bill had never been to before!
And although it was a pretty darn cold day (like mid-30s?), we stayed cozy in the car for most of it (we did get out and walk for short stints, but that was all the "refreshing" we needed!). We found Wimberley to be cute town.
Wimberley apparently chose boots as its theme. Some towns have large painted cows, horses, mooses (so I've been told...),... Sometimes towns seem to think as long as it's big, it's good. Others, like Wimberley, actually put a lot of work into the artistry on the boots...
This one was so cute - critters in boots - that it required a close-up!
Appropriately, that last boot - and this mural - were from in front of the "Hotel Flora and Fauna."
We figured out that this pretty river running through town was the Blanco River.
Winter can be harsh, and I've told you that this day was brrrrrr cold. So it's nice to know someone's thinking about the trees... And this was probably the best (and only) dressed tree in the forest (or perhaps, in the whole country!?!).
Yes, I think we are all eager for this, for the greening-up and the warmer temps!!
A totem celebrating the University of TX (Austin) and their "Hook 'Em Horns" slogan.
Another fun carving.
Susan and I ventured out into the cold to look in a few shop windows (although most of the stores were closed!).
Are you asking yourself "I wonder why she took this picture?" If so, look below:
Because this guy was too funny to pass up!
Some of the shops had great signs for sale. I probably should've bought this one...
Ha-ha...
This was like some emailed signs I've seen. Cute.
On our way of town, we stopped for this guy. Once you wrangle a 40' RV a bit, you develop a real respect for these truck drivers! He made this U-turn look like a piece of cake! Amazing!!
