This KOA has a great big dog park (always a bonus!!), and yesterday we were told that the most popular "play date" time was 8am, so this morning we weren't going to miss out!

Zou puffs herself up to look big and scary (are you impressed?) - gotta establish yourself with all the new personalities... Tricky thing - don't want to be seen as a push-over but better not alienate a potential friend either!

Believe it or not, the one real fight that broke out (an unusual thing, actually) was instigated by the golden retriever. He seemed like a cool dog, and I had petted on him quite a bit. But there was another dog that came into the park (not pictured) that was very sweet and very non-confrontational. But somehow the golden decided to get all pissy with this poor dog (Aussie/border collie x?) - I have no idea why. He started out just growling and lifting his lips and escalated to full-on fighting! A couple of us grabbed our own dogs to make sure they didn't get involved. But then, when I saw no one was doing anything, I grabbed the golden and yanked him away. His owner ambled over, and I told him his dog was a problem. He said yeah but looked offended! I can't believe how some owners can be so bloody oblivious and incompetent!! He finally got the hint, leashed his dog, and left. The rest of us gave a collective sigh of relief, but it always leaves me a little shaken to have to deal with that kind of crap! Most of the time, most of the dogs and owners are fine or great, but once in awhile...
